The demand for Contract Qualified Persons (QPs) is steadily increasing.  This is as a result of the Industry’s steady change away from mainly big Pharmaceutical companies to smaller, bespoke and ‘virtual’ companies that are usually without manufacturing or testing facilities of their own.

Irrespective of whether working ‘full time’ for one or more companies or doing a few days a month as a QP, the legal requirement and expectations of the QP, on behalf of the Marketing Authorisation (MA), are the same.

The QP must ensure that:

• Batches of product have been manufactured, tested and checked in accordance with the requirements of the MA
• Batches have been made in accordance with the principles and guidelines of EC GMP or an appropriate GMP’s recognised as equivalent under an MRA
• Batches have been Certified and Registered before release for sale or supply
